MEHRLIN

The aim of the MEHRLIN (Models for Economic Hydrogen Refueling Infrastructure) project is to set up hydrogen refuelling stations in particular for the fuel cell buses of the JIVE project but also for hydrogen powered cars and commercial vehicles, along the Trans-European Networks (TEN-T). In the period from 2016 to the end of 2022, 6 hydrogen filling stations are to be set up and put into operation in 4 countries (Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy); the aim is to collect experience and data on technical operation and profitability and thus prepare for the commercial roll-out of this technology from 2022.

South Tyrol is represented in this project by SASA and IIT: while SASA will install a hydrogen refuelling station for fuel cell buses, IIT is the consortium's research partner, i.e. its tasks comprehend the monitoring and the analysis of the technical operating data and the profitability of the systems.

Connecting Europe

This project is conntected to a second EU-financed project which envisages putting into operation 140 fuel cell buses in different European towns and cities (--> JIVE) and is financed by the European Union through the CEF (Connecting Europe Facility) programme.
