Collaborations & Memberships

Neither climate change nor environmental pollution stick to borders; therefore, it is necessary to strive for local, national and interregional cooperation and thus to promote sustainable development.

In addition to its work in local committees, IIT also represents South Tyrol on a national and international level and is a welcome and well-respected partner thanks to its know-how and experience.

    On a local level

Hydrogen strategy working group: IIT is a member of the working group that is developing a South Tyrolean hydrogen strategy and is heading the infrastructure group.

    On a national level

    • H2IT: IIT is a member of the Italian Hydrogen Association H2IT and has also been a member of several working groups..
    • Ministry for Economic Development (Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico - MISE): IIT has been a part of several working groups which have been created by the MISE.

    On an international level

    • European Hydrogen Valleys Partnership: IIT represents the Autonomous Province of Bolzano in this alliance of 35 European regions which aims at mitigating the impact of climate change on society and nature using “green” hydrogen in different sectors (e.g., energy, mobility and industry). This partnership takes on an important role in relation to the achievement of the ambitious European climate goals, which aim for climate neutrality within 2050. In this regard, IIT is active in several working groups, e.g., in the field of hydrogen filling stations and fuel cell buses.
    • European Clean Hydrogen Alliance (ECH2A): The European Clean Hydrogen Platform was presented in July 2020. It will make an important contribution to the formation of a competitive hydrogen industry in Europe. To do this, it wants to use economies of scale and bundle the resources of industry, politics and other important stakeholders.
IIT has been a member of ECH2A since August 2020 and is actively involved in the Mobility Round Table.
