The Hydrogen Centre produces so-called “green hydrogen” via electrolysis from renewable energy sources. The hydrogen is stored in gas form: fuel cell vehicles can refuel from the Centre’s own refuelling station at the “Firmian” parking area right next to the autobahn at the Bozen South exit.

Production capacity is sufficient for 15-20 buses or several hundred cars. The five hydrogen buses circulating in Bozen already use fuel that is “made in South Tyrol”, as do the first ten cars from the HyFIVE project.

It is also possible for “external” hydrogen-powered cars to refuel here (opening hours: Montay - Friday, 8.00 - 19.00) after having called our office (payment methods: credit card, invoice). Refuelling time for cars is 3 minutes, for buses approx. 10-12 minutes.

GHG Savings

The Bolzano hydrogen production plant can replace about 525,000 liters of gasoline or 440,000 liters of diesel a year. Thus can be saved per year up to 1,200,000 kg of climate-damaging CO2.
