Hydrogen technology can give a technical answer to some of the most pressing issues of our time: problems such as climate change, unhealthy emissions, dependence on imports of fossil fuels, rising costs and the dictated prices of fossil fuels and – particularly in South Tyrol – the “brain drain”, i.e. the exodus of mostly young, well-educated people due to the lack of high-quality jobs. These questions need not only political, but above all technical solutions.
For these reasons, South Tyrol has decided to take up the expansion of this innovative technology. The Hydrogen Centre South Tyrol, complete with refuelling station, was constructed with the aid of the European Regional Development Fund. This was also achieved thanks to a close partnership with the Brennerautobahn AG (the operator of the Brenner autobahn), who provided the land and buildings for the Hydrogen Centre.
